Tackling Green Transition Challenges.

From November 13 to 15, 2024, Campus Varberg hosted its second  Hackathon, a standout initiative stemming from the city’s participation in the C4TALENT project. The event centered on innovative solutions for the green transition, challenging students to work on an app for Varberg Energi.

The hackathon drew an impressive 44 students from Sweden and Denmark, representing specializations in system development, IT project leadership, and IT. Over an intensive 2.5 days, participants collaborated to tackle real-world challenges, gaining practical experience and honing their creativity. The event was skillfully facilitated by Elisabet Klingenstierna, our C4TALENT coordinator at Campus Varberg, with support from Qlok, Varberg Energi, and Kamstrup.

The competition’s highlight was the innovative concept from the Watt Wizards team, whose winning app integrates gamification to nudge consumers toward making more sustainable energy choices. Their solution stood out as a practical and engaging tool for addressing the challenges of the green transition, earning them the jury’s recognition.

This hackathon has not only become a signature event for Campus Varberg but also a powerful platform to inspire the next generation of innovators. By creating opportunities for young talent to work on impactful challenges, Varberg is building a reputation as a forward-thinking city dedicated to sustainability and innovation.
