• Technology finds its way in the membership cards of urban vegetable gardens in Rome

From April 23rd, 2020, the members of the Vivere in ... Onlus Association of the Parco Ort9 urban garden in Rome have access to their new membership cards. Why these new cards? The old ones, in A4 paper format, were not practical and complex to manage both for the members and for the Association. The management decided, therefore, to issue a much smaller format that will include the member’s name and surname and, above all, a QR code that will allow, in the very near future, the display of member’s information vis-à-vis the Association.

  • On the COVID-19 crisis and public procurement

We are living in a time of crisis, and it is not a secret. The COVID-19 pandemic has taken us by surprise and has abruptly obliged us to change our habits. As Europeans, we are used to travel with few restrictions, to go out for coffee and dinner, to have hours-long meeting around a table in our offices. As of now, travels must be restricted to the essential ones, cafés and restaurants are closed and meetings happen mostly online, where the faces of our colleagues appear on small squares on our computer screens, with kids and pets running in the background.

  • LOURES BRINGS CHILDREN CLOSER TO AGRICULTURE AND ENVIRONMENT

The City Council of Loures organised in January and February, when covid-19 was still something far away from our “reality”, a series of workshops in two of the RU:RBAN pilots, the Quinta do Conventinho and the Petrogal urban gardens, aimed at bringing children closer to good environmental practices. Children are the engine, the driving force for a real change from some agricultural practices still in place, for example the use of chemicals in urban gardens, towards healthy and environmentally friendly practices. How do we do this? Through education, training and…why not, playing!
