A key objective of the City Festival will see the recently validated 116 URBACT Good Practices showcase their work. The collection of participatory, integrated, impactful and transferable Good Practices cover a range of different topics. A new URBACT Good Practice database will be launched in January 2025, allowing a more seamless navigation of the newly validated Good Practices.
A yet-to-be defined number of these Good Practices will be available to be shared more actively via new URBACT Transfer Networks (TNs) in 2025. The call for these will launch in April (around the same time of the City Festival) and will last until June. Network activities are anticipated to get underway in quarter 4, 2025. Those cities with the URBACT Good Practice label have the option of building a consortium of European city partners through which to apply to be a TN and impart their learnings to transnational project partners while also further improving their own Practice into the future.
In Ireland, following the submission of eight separate submissions from five local authorities we were pleased to learn three of these received the URBACT Good Practice label. These were from local authorities Cork City Council, Dublin City Council and Limerick City and County Council. Congratulations to each of them! We look forward to greeting our Irish partners in Poland. You can read a one-liner on these three Practices below:
"Playsmaking" (Cork): a placemaking approach to developing the city as a playground
Sustainable Community (Sub)urban Greenspaces (Limerick): boosting urban residents’ well-being through nature connection
Minority Language Renewal Through Innovation (Dublin): setting new standards for urban language revitalisation
A reminder that the City Festival is for all towns and cities across Europe, regardless of URBACT involvement. The event will be of interest to local authorities (staff and elected members), municipal agencies, representatives of regional authorities, the European Commission, as well as other EU-funded organisations, among others. Don't miss out on the chance to be involved. Make sure to register today!
