SPACE TO COMMUNITIES! A RESILIENCE TEST IN THE CITY OF BARI

The purpose of this document is to provide a broad overview on the themes of the ReGeneration Implementation Network, including references to reports, policy guidelines and examples of projects that have dealt with similar issues. It is a first draft that needs to be successively completed with the profiles of the cities part of the network, and accordingly tuned with the specific issues deriving by the comparison of their situations and challenges.

Sofia: To build upon each other’s experiences

The International Labour Organisation describes youth employment (YU) as a global challenge and a top policy concern, decrying an international state of affairs wherein 156 million young workers live in poverty and there are 71 million unemployed young people.

THE HAGUE: HOW THE COMMUNITY-LED LOCAL DEVELOPMENT APPROACH CAN FUEL THE ENERGY TRANSITION

Energy reduction and the transition to sustainable energy sources belong to the major challenges we are facing today in order to mitigate climate change. The Netherlands aims to reduce its CO2 emissions with 49% by 2030 and with 95% by 2050 compared to 1990. The city of The Hague has even formulated the ambition to be climate neutral by 2030. Since the energy transition in the built environment can make a significant contribution to this goal, the city board makes significant investments this sector. But this vast ambition is largely influenced by the way citizens are prepared to join in or decide to opt out. It’s a transition that will only succeed if we work on it in collaboration.

THE BIP/ZIP STRATEGY – EMPOWERING LOCAL COMMUNITIES IN PRIORITY DISTRICTS OF LISBON

Based on the experience developed over the past ten years in Lisbon, the Bip/Zip program is currently at the basis of the URBACT Transfer Network Com.Unity.Labwhich aims at sharing the knowledge with other cities across Europe. In this article the different tools of the strategy are outlined.
