This year, on the occasion of the participation of Plasencia (Spain) in the " URBACT Come In! Talking Houses/Shared Stories Transfer Network", the "Open Night" is renamed "Open Plasencia" with the aim of expanding its field of action, integrating a good European practice originating in the city of Budapest, which seeks citizen participation and the valorization of heritage through the opening of residential buildings and the participation of neighbors sharing stories and experiences with their visitors.
Since 2014 during "Open Plasencia" events many public and private buildings, most of them museums and art galleries, are open for citizens. Is a bottom-up event with many cultural and artistic activities carried out by volunteers from local non-profit associations in the public squares and streets of the historic city centre.
Open Plasencia will continue to maintain the many cultural activities spread throughout the city on Saturday, September 21, in what will be a sample of the offer that will be in the city throughout the year. But also, in line with and work with different Plasencia groups and neighbors, private residential buildings will be opened that have a story to tell, just like they do in Budapest, and for this the URBACT local group has been created.
