The registration of the Vivere In...Onlus Association stems from the need to review the perception that citizens, intended as those who live in the city, often have of the countryside. Representatives of the Association met with Mr. Alfonso Pascale, who was Vice President of the Italian Farmers Confederation and the first president of the National Network of Social Farms, promoted by the Confederation itself. From him, who is very much acquainted with the Parco Ort9-Sergio Albani urban garden and its experience in the social field, started the idea of expanding the National Network of Social Farms also to urban gardens. Once aware of this possibility, the Vivere In...Onlus Association immediately filled in the application form describing in detail the activities of the Parco Ort9-Sergio Albani urban garden from both points of view: agricultural and social. Particular attention was paid to the description of the commitment from the urban garden in applying the social inclusion section of the regulation of urban gardens of Rome in the assignment of the plots of land and in the activities carried out, the illustration of the Impronte Inclusive project - conducted by the Association - which involves multi-problematic teenagers in collaboration with the local healthcare center, the environmental education activities and upcoming social goals….and this is how the Parco Ort9-Sergio Albani urban garden becomes part of the National Network of Social Farms. This network has multiple functions: first of all it will allow the Association to understand the various experiences of social inclusion through agriculture taking place throughout Italy, as well as finding new inspirations for further projects or collaborations. In fact, the network brings together similar operators allowing them, also with the help of the Confederation, to propose new projects at regional or national level.
The permanence of the Parco Ort9-Sergio Albani urban garden in the National Network of Social Farms will depend on the continuity on the part of the Association in applying the regulation of urban gardens of Rome and in elaborating experiences of social inclusion in favor of pensioners, mentally or physically fragile citizens, the unemployed, schools, etc. But there is no concern about this: the Association would have done it anyway since it is part of its very own essence! This is precisely the "trick": they do nothing more than they would have done, but through the Networkd they enhance their activities as much as possible, sharing them with as many actors and legal entities as possible.
