Summary

Dr. Marko Kovacic is a former youth worker turned academic, currently serving as Vice-Dean for Research and International Cooperation at Bernays University of Applied Sciences, where he teaches classes in public policy and methodology. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor at the University of Rijeka.

Marko is the founder and lecturer of the first academic youth studies program in Croatia, conducted at the University of Rijeka. For the last 13 years, he has been actively engaged in numerous national and European youth policy processes. Marko has authored more than 70 academic papers and managed over 30 international projects. He has been involved with the URBACT program for several years, assisting cities in developing their integrative action plans.

His expertise in participative governance is evident through his involvement in various policy processes with numerous international organizations. Marko's proficiency in the methods and tools for integrated and participatory approaches is demonstrated by his extensive work in coordinating diverse groups of stakeholders in different cities. His skill in the integrated and participatory design of strategies is highlighted by his significant contributions to these processes.

Dr. Kovacic completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Graz and holds a Ph.D. in public policy from the University of Ljubljana. He also possesses two MAs—one in political science from Central European University in Budapest and another in public policy from the University of Zagreb, where he also earned his BA in political science. Furthermore, he was a visiting researcher at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
