Intergenerational Festival in Poljčane

Edited on 06/08/2024

At the beginning of this summer, we organized an Intergenerational Festival in the meadow under the Čreti hayrack in the Municipality of Poljčane as part of the URBACT program's BiodiverCity action network.

The festival aimed to introduce children and the wider public to the importance of biodiversity. Various activities took place, such as:

  • Art workshops on the theme of nature (painting the Dravinja River, meadows, plants, animals, ...)
  • Storytelling by elderly citizens to children about nature in Poljčane
  • Singing songs about nature
  • Recitals on the theme of the Dravinja River, nature, and animals
  • Conversations about planting plants
  • Discussions about traditional Slovenian meadows
  • Treating visitors to local food by farmers

After a whole day of gathering, which included kindergarten and primary school children, parents, retirees, performers, and others, we parted full of energy and unforgettable impressions, with the hope that we would soon meet again at a similar gathering in even greater numbers.
