A conversation is underway, on boosting the attractiveness of midsized cities

The conversation takes Idanha-a-Nova, in Portugal, as a role-model municipality, which brilliantly used innovative place branding as a change booster to pave new pathways for growth and reverse decades of demographic decline. The framework is provided by URBACT —always at the forefront of sustainable urban development— and the RESTART Transfer Network. Needless to say, this conversation is open to anyone interested or eager to contribute.

2nd Transnational Meeting held in Nyborg, Denmark, dedicated to Place Branding

On 17 and 18 June 2026, partners from the URBACT RE:START Transfer Network gathered in Nyborg, Denmark, for the network’s second Transnational Meeting, dedicated to Place Branding and territorial attractiveness.

Idanha-a-Nova welcomes the Lead Expert of the RE:START Transfer Network

On 12 and 13 January, the Municipality of Idanha-a-Nova welcomed the Lead Expert of the RE:START Transfer Network, an initiative under the URBACT programme whose main objective is to increase the attractiveness of medium-sized European towns and cities and reverse depopulation by creating new pathways for growth through an innovative local branding approach.

RE:START partners strengthen cooperation and shared learning at URBACT University 2026

Partners from the RE Transfer Network took part in URBACT University 2026, held from 25 to 27 August in Cork, Ireland. The event brought together 292 participants from 156 cities across 28 countries, representing the 25 URBACT Transfer Networks.
