Supporting Pride locally: a guide for cities to promote LGBTIQ inclusion

As we wrap up Pride Month 2025, let’s celebrate the Rainbow Cities Network and its guidelines for cities combating discrimination and promoting equal opportunities for LGBTIQ communities.

Organising a TNM? Here are the basics (by Jana Svobodová)

Organising a transnational meeting within the URBACT network is always a big challenge for a city. Usually the city wants to showcase local achievements to show off, but at the same time it wants to give the partners an idea of the challenges being addressed. Hradec Králové is always happy to accept such a challenge with openness, careful planning and the desire to share both our experience and our learning process.

Οκτώ Καλές Πρακτικές URBACT για την επανασύνδεση των πόλεων με τη φύση

Σε όλη την Ευρώπη οι πόλεις ανακαλύπτουν εκ νέου τη δύναμη της φύσης: δημιουργούν κοινωνικούς κόμβους σε φυσικούς χώρους, μετατρέπουν βιομηχανικές εγκαταστάσεις σε κόμβους βιοποικιλότητας, αποκαθιστούν πάρκα στα προάστια, και πολλά άλλα. Οι λύσεις βασισμένες στη φύση (NBS) μεταμορφώνουν τον τρόπο που οι πόλεις προσεγγίζουν την αστική αναζωογόνηση. Αυτές οι προσεγγίσεις δεν διευθετούν μόνο περιβαλλοντικούς στόχους αλλά και δημιουργούν τη δυναμική για πιο βιώσιμες και προσιτές πόλεις.

Το URBACT διαχρονικά έχει υποστηρίξει τις ευρωπαϊκές πόλεις στην ανταλλαγή και μεταφορά καλών πρακτικών. Πρόσφατα, μέσω της πρόσκλησης του 2024, 116 πρακτικές αναγνωρίστηκαν για τις λύσεις βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης που παρείχαν. Ανακαλύψτε 8 Καλές Πρακτικές URBACT που φέρνουν μία νέα διάσταση (και μερικές φορές νέα εργαλεία και τεχνολογίες) στην αστική αναγέννηση που βασίζεται στη φύση, αλλά και πώς η πόλη σας μπορεί να μάθει πράγματα από αυτές. 

Policy Lab om finansiering av hållbar urban utveckling

European Urban Initiative (EUI) kommer i höst arrangera ett Policy Lab på temat finansiering, där man kommer utforska innovativa sätt att finansiera hållbar stadsutveckling. Eventet äger rum den 30 september till 2 oktober i Rotterdam, Nederländerna.

Perspective of a NUP: joining the In4Green network in Dąbrowa Górnicza!

The URBACT In4Green project got underway in semester two, 2023 and is set to last until the end of 2025. The network is a collaborative of diverse industrial cities which share a commitment to be transformative in steering their local industry towards a future that is greener and more sustainable. The project seeks to improve local governance and policymaking in helping to reshape and modernise industrial areas while remaining competitive and inclusive locations. The network contains partners from Spain (2), Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Montenegro, Poland and Portugal. The Irish partner to the network is Meath County Council with the project focusing most locally on the town of Navan. The city of Avilés – Spain is the Lead Partner with Lead Expertise provided by José Costero.

The URBACT In4Green project met in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland, at the end of May for the 5^th transnational meeting of the Action Planning Network. On the invitation of the Irish partner, Meath County Council, the Contact Point for Ireland, Karl Murphy, joined the group. The meeting on 28^th and 29^th of May provided great learning and insight into the brilliant work being done by the network.
