Composting Competition in Dunaújváros Kindergartens

Edited on 19/09/2025

The City of Dunaújváros has taken another step forward in the BiodiverCity URBACT project, as testing actions continue with the start of the new school year. Two local kindergartens have launched a compost collection competition, designed to encourage children to learn about waste reduction, recycling, and the value of natural resources in a playful and engaging way.

By involving young children in these activities, the project aims not only to instil environmentally friendly habits from an early age, but also to inspire families and the wider community. Children are often powerful messengers of change, and their enthusiasm for sustainable practices can help raise awareness among adults as well.

The composting competition highlights the importance of hands-on environmental education, ensuring that sustainability becomes a shared responsibility across generations. With this initiative, Dunaújváros continues to demonstrate how small, community-level actions can contribute to a greener, more resilient urban future.
