The Interactive Cities Final Conference that we had the honor to host in our city almost two weeks ago, was also the occasion to organize thematic site visits to show to our guests some of the unique reality we have in town.
In Genoa there is a large number of activities, shops and urban fabric that are growing, promoting a series of initiatives aiming at develop a concrete strategy through which improve the use of social media and digital devices. In order to realize concrete strategy of action in different fields, our Municipality is working together with some of the most important stakeholder in the city, also members of our ULG, for instance the Chamber of Commerce and the University of Genoa.
During the meeting we organized, in collaboration with the stakeholder named before, three thematic tours related to the three main sub-themes of the project.
The first visit was about “Urban Development”. In Genoa in the next future there will be important interventions to renovate the image of the waterfront of the city, mostly in its eastern side. These urban projects are designed thanks to the involvement of the University of Genoa, MUMA - Museum of the Sea and Museo di Palazzo Reale, with the aim to requalify the area and to connote it as a relevant touristic route. The study visit gathered to our partners the possibility to get in touch with the future transformation of the urban context and to know how the city and the stakeholder are working together to make it possible.
The second visit was the “classic” one: an amazing guided tour to some of our most beautiful Rolli Palaces, in the magnificent Via Garibaldi, UNESCO World Heritage. This was the visit dedicated to “Tourism Promotion” and was the occasion to show how we built several communication campaigns with the help of the Igers community, Rolli Ambassadors and local influencers. Many of the communication activities we had, took as scenario the Rolli Palaces and we decided to present the results of the work carried out during the project, in the location where we organized some of our actions and campaigns like “Make Genoa a Part of You”, Instameet and Visual Tours.
The third site visit was dedicated to “Business Promotion”: Genoa’s historical shops and promotion in the old town. In Genoa indeed there is a list of 39 historical shops recognized for their value by Municipality, Chamber of Commerce and Italian Ministry of Cultural the Chamber of Commerce supports them in promoting their peculiarity and the history they have, fostering their value as touristic attraction and offering to the shops and to all the small businesses an impressive service of digital training . Many of these shops know very well that to remain actual is very important to be updated with the changing time, so they develop a series of strategies connected with the use of social media and digital campaigns.
The last day of meeting we also had an interesting site visit to the IIT – Italian Institute of Technologies, an excellence at Italian and European level: in the Institute, some of the most brilliant minds in the world are studying and projecting impressive technological solutions, as robots or extremely advanced nanotechnology products, which will improve our daily life.
