Summary
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved games and cities—so it’s no surprise that SimCity was my go-to in my twenties. Since then, I swapped building virtual cities for working on real ones, but with the same enthusiasm (and much better graphics). For nearly 30 years, I’ve helped cities with various urban strategies and developed international projects, mostly through the European Urban Initiative (EUI), URBACT, LIFE, and various Interregs.
Lately, I’ve been diving into new urban adventures: social innovation, inclusion and gender equality, and getting citizens involved. Through URBACT, I’ve had the honour of being Lead Expert for two Action Planning Networks. First came SIBdev, where we learned how innovative financial tools, such as social impact bonds, and a focus on impact could improve public services. Then came NextGen YouthWork, where we tackled the puzzle of the digital transition of youth work in European cities. I’ve also teamed up with fellow experts to contribute to the Social Data Management Knowledge Hub and the Hungarian National URBACT Point, spreading the word about URBACT Tools and translating them into Hungarian to help everyone have a say in designing better local policies.
These days, I work at the crossroads of urban governance and technology, most recently with 33 organisations from 14 countries across Europe in the EUNOMIA.AI consortium to develop trustworthy GenAI (Generative AI) for efficient, accessible public services. I am particularly passionate about making local governments more responsive and inclusive through technology, fostering stakeholder collaboration, and helping cities navigate the opportunities and challenges of data-driven decision-making.
The more you know, the more you realise how much there is still to learn, and that idea rings especially true for cities, where new challenges seem to pop up every day. That’s exactly why I love URBACT: it’s the best playground for cities, stakeholders, and experts to learn, experiment, and grow together across Europe. I’m currently open to new partnerships and projects, and would be delighted to join cities on this learning journey as a Lead Expert or Ad-hoc Expert, working side by side to find the best solutions for people and communities. And when I do, I bring two guiding values: learning should always be fun, and it’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.
