URBACT aims to foster integrated urban development in Europe by supporting networks of cities and towns to exchange good practices and ideas. This webpage aims to share information, news and articles about URBACT, especially to its Maltese audience.

The National URBACT Point within the Local Government Division has played an active role in promoting sustainable urban development, innovation, and cooperation through the URBACT programme. Cities across the Maltese Islands have benefited from opportunities to exchange knowledge, adapt proven practices, and collaboratively address local urban issues.

While the recent call for Transfer Networks has now closed, new opportunities are on the horizon, including a call for Action Planning Networks (APNs) in 2026. Cities in Malta are encouraged to stay engaged and take full advantage of these upcoming opportunities to strengthen their local strategies and contribute actively to the wider URBACT community.

The broader URBACT website offers a wealth of resources to support cities in designing and implementing integrated and participatory urban actions. In particular, the URBACT Toolbox is a practical collection of tools, templates, guides, and inspiration to help local authorities tackle urban challenges effectively. Whether you're looking for planning prompts or hands-on methodologies, the Toolbox has something for every stage of your city’s development journey.
