European cities are increasingly investing in railway stations and multimodal mobility hubs as key elements supporting sustainable urban development. However, many municipalities still face challenges in translating transport infrastructure projects into well-structured, attractive and functional urban areas.

The challenge:

Green transition, driven by the global need to mitigate climate change, appears as a major challenge in every city. Shifting towards a green economy model based on low-carbon solutions, green energy production, low consumption of natural resources and systemic circular economy applications will be a requirement if cities want to remain competitive and smart. 

Objective 
Our community faces an urgent challenge: managing the wood waste generated from tree cutting and arboriculture. The local municipal enterprise, Dibrova, manages 687 hectares of forest, where thousands of tons of branches and wood residues accumulate every year, simply rotting and polluting the environment. We see an opportunity to turn this waste into a resource by producing pellets for heating and local use.
